The Sligo Volunteer Centre is set for a funding boost to the tune of €106,400, Fine Gael TD for Sligo Leitrim, Tony McLoughlin has said.
This comes as the Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Seán Kyne approved an allocation of €3.5 million to support volunteering centres across the country.
Deputy McLoughlin said: “The Sligo Volunteer Centre plays a vital role in enabling volunteering locally, allowing them to give back to the community and I am delighted to see it receive additional funding today.“The Centre publicises opportunities and facilitates volunteers who want to feel connected to their community in Sligo and it helps foster a sense of involvement and promotes good citizenship through its excellent staff.
“The Sligo Volunteer Centre provides good practice in volunteering and is a major asset to our county and our community in Sligo concluded the Sligo based TD.
