SLIGO IS at the centre of a snow and ice warning from 6pm this evening, Monday.
Motorists are also advised to use extreme caution this morning, as temperatures fell to minus four Centigrade in some areas overnight.
Met Eireann warned of widespread frost and the risk of ice on untreated roads and other surfaces.
Road conditions in parts of the country could be difficult with icy conditions noted late Sunday night on several secondary roads.
four counties in this region, plus two in Munster and all of Leinster
been named by Met Eireann as facing snow and ice risks up to Tuesday morning.
The four locally are: Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Roscommon, plus two in Munster — Tipperary and Waterford.
Up to three centimetres of snow is predicted for some areas before the warning expires at 6am tomorrow, Tuesday.
Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton adds some caution to the Status Yellow warning.
