Sligo Road and Traffic Report -26 February

MAJOR WORKS:

SLIGO AREA:


Sligo City Watermain Rehabilitation and Pearse Road Sewer Network Contract:

Wine Street – 7 pm to 7 am night works closure - Previous Road Closure Traffic Management Plan to be implemented, Planing on 26th and Surfacing on 27th & 28th February.
 
Stephen Street - 7 pm to 7 am night works Closure, Planing on 27th and Surfacing on 28th February & 1st March.  
 
Junction of JFK/Rockwood Parade/Thomas Street - 7pm to 7am night works. During the nights of 27th for planing and again 28th or 1st March for surfacing, traffic will be reduced to one lane with access to Rockwood Parade and JFK Parade being restricted for short periods.

Pipe laying has finished on Stephen Street carpark. Minor works to continue with no disruption to traffic.
 
Installation of boundary boxes and minor footpath works are expected to be ongoing during the week in the Stephen Street and Holborn Street areas.
 
Markievicz Bridge -Leak investigation and repair after rush hour, evening works – road narrows.
 
Connolly Street/Mail Coach Road junction – Minor road reinstatement works.
 
Traffic Management will be in place at all works locations with diversions clearly signed.      
 
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Ballytivnan AC Mains Replacement:
 
The new pipeline is installed and commissioned. Final reinstatement works are been undertaken this week.  Reinstatement works are to commence on Old Bundoran road and proceed south towards the Roundabout at St Joseph’s Church. Traffic shall be managed using a stop go system controlled by traffic lights, and flagmen during peak periods. Pedestrian traffic shall be diverted away from the works area. Delays may be experienced.
 
N16, Ash Lane, Road Strengthening and Repair:

Works on the resurfacing of Ash Lane will continue for the next 3 weeks with significant traffic management measures in place.  For the coming week work will be concentrated to the east of its junction with Ballytivnan Road.  Traffic management will involve traffic only being permitted to travel one-way along Ash Lane in an easterly direction.  Traffic wishing to travel west will be largely diverted via Clarion Road.  This is likely to cause delays, and motorists may need to allow additional time for journeys.

Kilsellagh to Ballinode Pipeline Replacement Contract

 
Pipelaying on Manorhamilton Road is continuing at night (7pm-7am) from the Clarian Road Junction to Ash Lane junction. Minor works will be ongoing during the day at localised sites. Traffic control in operation using traffic lights or Stop/Go system. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. These works are expected to last five weeks.

SLIGO DRUMCLIFFE AREA:

    
N15 Mullaghnaneane-Urlar Mains Replacement Works:

Works for new watermains pipelines are being undertaken in the Cashelgarran and Urlar areas north of Drumcliffe. Works are complete in Cashelgarran on Local Road No. L-7402-0 and in Urlar on Local Road L-7308.  Pipelaying on the N15 is complete between Mullaghnaneane-Urlar, the contractor is currently undertaking connection, testing and commissioning works on the new watermains.  Crossing of the N15 at Cortarowey shall be under taken this week also. Traffic management will be in operation which may cause some delays. A stop go system controlled with traffic lights will be required for the some sections.

N16 Lugatober Road Project

Ground Investigation works will take place along the N16 (Sligo to Manorhamilton) between the townlands of Drumkilsellagh and Lugnagall, from Tuesday the 20th of February until mid-March. Traffic Management will be in operation which may cause some delays. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution.

MINOR WORKS:


SLIGO AREA:

A scaffolding licence has been granted for Finisklin Road 40m west of the Inner Relief Road Junction.  The scaffolding will be on the footpath with pedestrians catered for and no traffic delays are expected.

A scaffolding licence has been granted for 16 Quay Street.  The scaffolding will be on the footpath with pedestrians catered for and no traffic delays are expected.

Fencing works will continue on the Western Distributor Road Phase 2 in the townlands of Ballydoogan, Oakfield, Maugheraboy  and Caltragh. Traffic management will be in place on the Oakfield Road  L– 3601 and the Ballydoogan Road L– 9406 for access and egress to the site, minor delays are expected with works expected to be complete on the 30th March.

Holborn Hill/Fr. O’Flanagan Terrace

A lane closure will be in place on Holborn Street/Holborn Hill at the Fr. O’Flanagan Housing Development with traffic controlled by traffic signals.  Some minor delays are expected.

SLIGO DRUMCLIFFE AREA:

Pothole repair works will continue in the Sligo-Drumcliffe Area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

BALLYMOTE AREA:

Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
 
ENNISCRONE AREA:

Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

Road widening and pipe laying will be carried out on the Rathosey/Seeviness road L6801-67. A temporary road closure will be in place. Local access will be provided. Diversion via Loop road L68022-0 & L6802-27.

TUBBERCURRY AREA:

Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
