The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection is aware that the expected severe weather conditions this week may make it difficult for customers whose payment is due on Friday.
Social Welfare payments due on Friday 2nd will be available from today Thursday 1st March.
Customers should note that all Friday payments will be also available to
collect as normal on Friday 2nd or Saturday 3rd March, or indeed the
Social Welfare payments made on Friday include:
· State Pension Contributory & Non Contributory
· Widows Pension Contributory & Non Contributory
· Guardians Payment
· Invalidity Pension
· Disablement Benefit
· Blind Pension
Given the severity of the weather, the Government has decided to issue a double fuel allowance payment of €45 in respect of this week. It is hoped that this will offer certainty to those relying on fuel allowance and enable our customers to stay safe and warm during the severe weather. This payment will issue automatically to all 331,000 recipients of fuel allowance. It will be processed next week and paid directly to customers in the following week commencing Monday March 12th.
Most people either pay for their fuel needs in arrears (e.g. gas, electricity) or in bulk (e.g. solid fuel/oil) so additional use of these fuels this week will not incur an immediate cost for the people concerned for a few weeks.
There may be circumstances where Post Offices have to close due to the worsening weather conditions. An Post will provide updates and information on Post Offices and all opening arrangements on their website www.anpost.ie .
