The Model presents 'Snowpoet' at Calry Church

The Model is delighted to present a very special off-site concert with London-based band Snowpoet at Calry Church on Saturday 5th of May. Tickets are on sale on themodel.ie or by phoning 071 9141405 and cost €16 / €14 (concession). Doors are at 8.30 pm and there is limited availability so early booking is advised.

Snowpoet is led by Irish vocalist Lauren Kinsella (Jazz FM vocalist of the Year 2016) and multi-instrumentalist Chris Hyson, two of the most adventurous musicians on the exciting and creative new London jazz scene. The music is infectious, delicate and tasteful. A twelve date Irish tour follows the release of Thought You Knew on Edition Records earlier this year.

Thought You Knew is the infectious and exquisite second album following its highly acclaimed and sought after debut album released in 2016. The 2016 debut won rave reviews and a devoted audience for its compelling sound, drawing comparisons with Bjork. Thought You Knew takes Snowpoet’s musical collaboration and sound to new creative peaks, blending sweet hook-laden vocal lines with warm and lush arrangements.

Supreme levels

Featuring saxophonist Josh Arcoleo, guitarist Nick Costley-White, Matt Robinson on piano and Dave Hamblett on drums Snowpoet has produced an album of songs from a full-spectrum colour palette sustained and illuminated by supreme levels of musicianship.

The sound is clear and beautifully produced while the lyrical content exhibits a deep and raw emotion.

The self-penned tunes confirm Lauren and Chris’ growing sense of identity as a writing partnership, a progression that’s evident in the confidence with which they approach the two covers on the album - ‘Dear Someone’ by Gillian Welch and ‘Snow’ by Emilíana Torrini. Lauren demonstrates her ability to inhabit the world of a sophisticated singer-songwriter exemplified by these two heroines.

With a new home at Edition Records, they are set to reach new heights in their profile, confirming their reputation as one of the most innovative and creative new bands in the UK today. Join them on their PRSF Beyond Borders 2018 tour with performances in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.
