Fianna Fáil TDs, Senators urge ‘No’ vote

BOTH SLIGO Fianna Fáil TDs have again urged a ‘No’ vote in the upcoming abortion referendum.

Marc MacSharry and Eamon Scanlon had previously stated their positions.

But yesterday 31 Fianna Fáil TDs and Senators turned up for a photo urging a ‘No’ vote yesterday, Thursday.

Four more sent apologies, according to organizers of the photo.

Supporting Call

Those attending yesterday included FF deputy leader Dara Colleary and the party’s finance spokesman Michael McGrath.

Other TDs supporting the call for a ‘No’ vote on May 25th included former local MEP Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher.

The Irish Times speculates this morning that, rightly or wrongly, the TDs’ move could mark the start of a challenge to the leadership of Michael Martin.
