Sligo Rovers home tonight to Bohemian

SLIGO ROVERS and Bohemian FC have a 7.45pm kick-off in the SSE Airtricity League at the Showgrounds tonight, Saturday.

The Bit o’ Red will be seeking to widen the slender two points gap which they have opened up on the Dublin club  in the past month.

Loved  Venue

The local side also have a game in hand which gives a change to put ‘daylight’ between Rovers and those back in the relegation zone.

Dinny Corcoran has always loved the venue, playing with either side.

He stole the show and the points in an encounter some years ago. Be warned.....if he plays, that is.

Bit O'Red manager Gerard Lyttle said: "The results have been good, the performances are improving and we're demanding more because it's well within us.

"We put ourselves in a position against Bray to close out the game comfortably and we didn't, which was one disappointment. But between the St Pat's and Bray games we have moved on from our poor start at home. That was something that had to change. The players realise what every night in The Showgrounds means to our supporters.

"We were down bodies again on Monday including four or five players that started the first game against Bray. We dealt with it well and obviously John Mahon and Jack Keaney have made cases that they should be in the team in the last few matches. It's not just Jack and John that are showing their worth to the squad and it's nice to be in that position. Much has been made of the scheduling and I agree with the criticism. We have to cope with that and the squad will be tested over the couple of weeks but we feel we are well-equipped at least.

"The first game with Bohemians was tight and they are probably in a similar position to us. Sometimes they deserve better than they get and they look a good side in many of their performances. They have a talented squad and were very unlucky against Waterford last week from our viewing. They'll be itching to get the win to kick-start their season.

"But we're a good side too and focus on our own display. The belief we have in the players is justified and putting a run together is very much within our reach. We take each game on one a time and this will be a tough one but it's another chance to show what we're all about to our home supporters."

Prediction: Home win.
