A bus touring around Ireland encouraging people to vote Yes visited Sligo last week. The bus was arranged by Together For Yes
and has been travelling around the country in order to speak with people before voting begins on Friday. The bus was in Wine Street car park for a number of hours distributing leaflets and answering questions from the public regarding the upcoming referendum.
Sligo Together For Yes
spokesperson Corey Whyte said: “We are talking with people about the reality of the 8th amendment and why a Yes vote is so important. Our volunteers have been canvassing for the last number of months and our Get Together today aims to continue our efforts to have conversations for Yes.”
Whyte continued: “172 women from Sligo travelled to the UK for an abortion between 2012 to 2016. Those are women who could and should have been provided with care and compassion here at home. With the visit of the Yes bus to Sligo we are encouraging everyone to get out to vote and saying your Yes matters”.
