McLaughlins Bar in Sligo Town is closing its doors after trading for 16 years under its latest management.
The owners of the popular licenced premises on Market St Myriam and Enda, announced its closure on Facebook over the weekend citing health grounds as the reason.
In an emotional message on the pub's Facebook page Myriam said, "Where to begin, this is probably the most difficult decision and most important message I have had to write in a very long time.
Enda and I have decided to close our business for now, from the 19/05/18 with a heavy heart, but as most of you will know, over a month ago I lost my vision in one eye. It has been a very emotional time for us.
Our health and our family are the most important things that matter right now. These 16 years have been full of ups and downs but it was worth it. The true meaning to any business are you the people, without you we would not have had 16 years in our pub. I really wish I could thank each and every one of you individually, but it's just impossible.
We have met the most amazing people from all walks of life, and this made our job easier each night. Thank you everyone from the 26/09/2002, which was the day we started, it has been an honour to meet you all and to call you our FRIENDS. Keep safe, cherish your people, keep smiling and stay true & kind to yourselves and everyone around you.
Life is for living. Much love Myriam and Enda, Enda jnr/ Jessica / Attracta. Thank you all.
