Grange Fuels is an independently owned oil distribution business based in Grange, Co. Sligo. The company has been providing an efficient and friendly service to customers in Sligo as well as in parts of Donegal, Mayo, Roscommon and Leitrim for almost a decade.
Established in 2008 by Trevor Farrell, Grange Fuels has grown to become a leading supplier of kerosene, diesel (green and white), petrol and gas oil to the domestic, agricultural and industrial sectors in the North-West region. Its success is based on providing a high-quality service and expanding services to meet its customers’needs. Wherever the customer is based, Grange Fuels is committed to delivering a prompt, flexible and efficient service six days a week. It delivers to all areas of Sligo, north Roscommon, east Mayo, north Leitrim and south Donegal.
Continually investing in the latest technology, the company’s delivery trucks are installed with electronically controlled metering systems which record the exact time of start and finish of each delivery, guaranteeing received quantities. Grange Fuels has gained a reputation for service that is second to none, beating its competitors time and again by offering heating oil at competitive prices, a fast, efficient and flexible service, best quality oils, electronically controlled metering, dedicated and obliging local customer support and delivery to your door when you need it.
“We understand that our customers’efficiency can depend on our efficiency,”Trevor Farrell says.
“We pride ourselves on the quality of our service and endeavour to focus on meeting our customers’needs and delivering fuel in line with their requirements. While most of our customers are in Co. Sligo, we cover an area that extends from Bundoran down as far as Ballaghaderreen, Frenchpark, Knock Airport and Carrick-on-Shannon. Our client-base is growing all the time.”
Grange Fuels operates from the same site as the Garlow Topaz Filling Station in Grange, which is only a few miles from Sligo town. The depot was newly-built in 2008 and boasts three large storage tanks for kerosene, diesel and gas oil. Trevor received great support from his wife Olivia and father-in-law John O’Gara in getting the business off the ground. John ran his own oil distribution company, O’Gara Oil, in Frenchpark until 2001, and his experience and knowledge of the industry proved invaluable.
“I used to drive trucks all over Ireland and Europe, and also worked in construction. I’m married now with four children and well settled,”smiles Trevor, who also hails from Frenchpark.
Having started out with one delivery truck, Trevor now runs three, including a new Scania P320 which he took delivery of from Cawley Commercials on January 6 last. The other two trucks are also Scania. Trevor and his fellow drivers Noel Mahon –who previously worked for O’Gara Oil –and Christy McTiernan are committed to ensuring their customers receive a superb quality and friendly service at keenly competitive prices.
Grange Fuels are also agents for McLaughlin’s Coal, which is delivered to customers by Paul Healy. With depots in Buncrana, Carndonagh and Ballyshannon, McLaughlin’s pre-packed fuels are renowned for their superiority quality and value-for-money. Only the best quality coal or smokeless fuel ever makes it into a McLaughlin’s Golden Glow prepack fuel bag.
Grange Fuels is supplied with its oil products by Tara Oil in Limerick. It was recently acquired by East Cork Oil which is one of the largest oil distributors in Munster.
Trevor is optimistic about what the future holds for his business, despite the recent rise in oil prices.
“Oil is up 18 to 20c per litre on what it was this time last year, but I think it’s more a case of prices stabilising. Last year’s prices were unrealistic and were never going to stay that low. Even allowing for the spike in prices, oil is still the cheapest way to heat your home. At the moment, 1,000 litres of kerosene will cost you €630. You will get 650 hours’heating out of it. That’s not bad when you break down the figures.”
In conclusion, the affable oil distributor says: “We will deliver anywhere or anytime from Monday to Saturday. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their loyalty and support over the past nine years. We look forward to providing them with the same great service for many more years to come.”
