Man dies in latest Dublin gangland shooting

The scene of the shooting on Wheatfields Avenue in Clondalkin, Dublin last night
A 35-year-old man has died after being shot multiple times in the latest gangland killing in Dublin.

The man was shot at least five times while walking on Wheatfields Avenue in Clondalkin just after half-past-nine last night.

The gunman made his getaway in a waiting car driven from the junction of Wheatfields Avenue and Crescent towards Finches pub.

Gardaí and the Emergency Services were quickly at the scene, but attempts to resuscitate the victim failed and he died on the road.

Detectives believe the killing may be related to a local drugs or gun related dispute but not connected to the ongoing Hutch-Kinahan feud

The victim who lived in the area with his partner and two children was on bail for firearms offences at the time.

He spent time in prison after he was apprehended by Gardaí last February and found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.

The scene of the shooting has been preserved and Gardaí at Lucan are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
